Degree and Certificate Options

Pikes Peak State College has several Nursing degree and certificate options.

Learn more about the Nurse Aide Certificate, the Nursing: Registered Nurse Associate of Science, the Nursing: LPN Advanced Placement Option, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing options.

This certificate is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level positions in bedside care. The program is competency-based introducing students to the principles, skills and abilities that comprise the Nurse Aide Scope of Practice. Upon completion, students will need to take the exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Pikes Peak State College offers an advanced placement associate degree program for licensed practical nurses. Prior LPN coursework from an accredited practical/vocational nursing program within the USA and a Colorado LPN license in good standing may be accepted. This is for current LPNs who plan to become a Registered Nurse (RN).

The Registered Nursing program is an Associate of Applied Science degree. The PPSC Nursing program is designed to be completed in 4 semesters. Upon completion, students will need to pass the exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Students may also have the option to pursue a Licenced Practical Nurse (LPN) credential. If you plan on pursing an LPN instead of an RN, connect with an academic advisor.

The RN-BSN program is designed for Registered Nurses who wish to earn the baccalaureate nursing degree or for current nursing students (dual enrollment) who are enrolled and in good standing in the Nursing AAS program who wish to earn the baccalaureate nursing degree. Students will examine the role of baccalaureate nursing that embraces excellence, caring, legal and ethical practice, civility, and lifelong learning.

Nursing Kelly

  • Nursing Kelly allows learners to practice standard patient care techniques such as airway, breathing, cardiac and circulation management. Educationally effective for training core in-hospital skills, targeting those skills specific to hospital care providers. Nursing Kelly is designed to meet the training requirements for basic to advanced patient care and helps facilitate delivery of consistent simulations into nursing curricula.

Nursing Anne

  • Nursing Anne is educationally effective for clinical training targeting key skills from basic patient care to advanced nursing necessary for in-hospital patient care. This flexible manikin platform allows multiple accessory modules to be added including trauma, NBC module, and bleeding control for use in multiple settings.

Juno

  • Introducing CAE Juno, CAE Healthcare’s clinical skills manikin and newest offering for nursing programs. Juno is a modern manikin that was designed to meet educational requirements for clinical nursing skills, from task training through advanced patient care scenarios.

Lucina

  • CAE Lucina is the only wireless childbirth simulator with validated, integrated maternal-fetal physiology and interchangeable static cervices to train on all the stages of delivery and the rare emergency scenario. Lucina brings an impressive blend of features to the market including a more realistic and controllable birthing process, better articulation for labor and delivery maneuvers, and predicted APGAR scores based on the integrated maternal-fetal physiology. From normal delivery and breech birth to shoulder dystocia and eclampsia, Lucina does it all. With 10 pre-configured Simulated Clinical Experiences (SCEs), Lucina allows instructors to increase throughput and manage multiple demands effortlessly.
