Include in the email your full name, your PPSC student number, and the exam you need to take. For example: Accuplacer English, Accuplacer Math, or both. Fees might apply to this option.
  3. Take the Accuplacer remotely at an approved testing center in the US or abroad. Fees  might  apply  to  this   option.

Are you a military or veteran affiliated student wanting to use VA or DOD Education Benefits to pay for a college prep course (below the 100-course level)?

Pikes Peak State College has confirmed with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense that a placement test is required in order to justify taking a college prep math or English course. No other form of justification is acceptable. Neither VA nor DOD (For both Tuition Assistance and MyCAA) will pay for these courses without a placement test score on file.

What does this mean for you?

You must take EdReady or the Accuplacer test to determine if you need to take a college prep course for math or English. An EdReady score below 90 for English, and below 100 for math, can be submitted to justify your enrollment in a college prep course. If you score less than 90 for English and less than 100 for math, you must export your results directly to the Testing Center. To export your EdReady scores:

  • Go to "My Account"
  • Under "Student data export" select "Download Your Data"
  • In the textbox, enter the Testing Center email address: Testing.Center@PikesPeak.edu. Click Send.
  • The Testing Center will let you know when your scores have been entered on your student record.
Students using TA, VA, or MyCAA education benefits should take EdReady once and submit
that score to the Testing Center.
VA, TA, and MyCAA benefits will not pay for developmental classes (below 1000 level) if students force a score of 90+ for English, or 100 for Math on EdReady. Students using TA, VA, or MyCAA education benefits who earned a score of 90+ for English, or 100 for Math, will have to pay out of pocket if they later realize they need the developmental class(es). Please contact MVP for more information (719-502-4100, mvp@pikespeak.edu).

EdReady for PPSC Placement

EdReady is a personalized, free, and self-paced learning system that is used to assess students’ English and Math readiness for Pikes Peak placement. You can complete EdReady on-line from the comfort of your home.

To take advantage of this option, you will need to:

  1. Go to https://pikespeak.edready.org/home and create an account.
    • Use your Pikes Peak assigned student email if you have one. If you do not have a Pikes Peak e-mail, you should use the e-mail you included in your Pikes Peak application.
    • Only scores from the Pikes Peak EdReady Platform will be accepted for placement. You will know if you are in the Pikes Peak Platform if you see the PPSC logo.
  2. Enter the Goal Key for the course you are trying to place into. See the chart below for a list of the PPSC EdReady Goal Keys (aka Private Keys).
EdReady Student Directions Sep 2024 Table

Starting September 4, 2024, EdReady will no longer be valid for placement into MAT 1440 Pre-Calculus.

     3. After adding the goal key, you will then complete the diagnostic test, work through the lessons, and retake sections/unit tests to earn your target score. A score of 90 is required for placement into college level English classes; a score of 100 is required for placement into college level Math classes. A score less than 90, for English, and less than 100 for Math, will place you into co-req or college prep courses.
    • Students using TA, VA, or MyCAA education benefits should take EdReady once and submit that score to the Testing Center.
      4. Once you have earned the target score, the Testing Center will get an automatic notification with your score report. The Testing Center will process your score and will send you an e-mail with placement information within two business days.

      5. Students using TA, VA, and MyCAA education benefits may use EdReady with a score below 90 for English, and below 100 for Math, to justify enrollment in co-requisite or prep courses. To do that, students must export their results directly to the Testing Center following these steps:
    • Go to “My Account”.
    • Under “Student data export” select “Download your Data”.
    • In the textbox, enter the Testing Center email address (Testing.Center@PikesPeak.edu)
    • Click Send.
    • The Testing Center will process your scores within two business days.
EdReady Accessibility Support

EdReady has the following accessibility settings available for students:

  • Use EdReady with a screen reader.
  • Enable keyboard focus wherever possible.
  • Enable contract controls.
  • Enable table of contact for all pages.

Students can enable the EdReady accessibility support when they sign up for EdReady or from My Account page by clicking Show additional options. Students don’t need to have AS approval to use the EdReady Accessibility tools.

Placement for International Students

Are you a prospective international student pursuing an F-1 visa?

Per F-1 visa regulations, international students must be fully accepted to their degree program to receive an I-20 to apply for a visa. To ensure that students are fully admitted to their program and to determine whether students will require co-requisite support courses in their program, Pikes Peak requires placement testing prior to issuing an I-20.

What does this mean for you?

You must take EdReady or the Accuplacer test to determine if you need to take a college prep course for math or English. For most cases, an EdReady score below 90 can be submitted to justify your enrollment in a college prep course.

For information on placement options for International Students, please visit the International Student Website.

International Student Placement Options:

  1. Complete EdReady.
    • To get started with EdReady, follow the steps in the Placement Testing for International Students Handout.
    • Students who score less than a 90 will need to take co-requisite courses. Please note students that pursue a major requiring MAT 1340 must make a score of 90 or higher. **Students needing MAT 1340 are not permitted to enroll in remedial courses**

  2. Take the Accuplacer in-person, if in the U.S.

3. Take the Accuplacer on-line with Examity, Accuplacer approved virtual proctor.
    • First you must verify if you meet the technical requirements. If you do, send an email to testing.center@pikespeak.edu requesting an on-line voucher to test with Examity. Include in the email your full name, your PPSC student number, and the exam you need to take. For example: Accuplacer English, Accuplacer Math, or both. Fees might apply to this option.

  1. Take the Accuplacer remotely at an approved testing center in the US or abroad. Testing options might vary per country.
