Pikes Peak State College Veterans Day Celebration 2023

Every year, Veterans Day is recognized in the United States on November 11th to honor the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. This is the exact day, time, and hour that signaled the end of World War I. Originally recognized as Armistice Day, congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and in 1938 November 11th became a national holiday. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans, living or dead, but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during wartime or peacetime.

Pikes Peak State celebrates Veterans Day through a week-long series of activities that honor our veterans and our active military while educating others about the history and significance of the day. This year, Pikes Peak State's Veterans Day program will consist of several in person and virtual events throughout the week. Please see below for additional information and to access our virtual events.

AWI T-shirt
Remember Everyone Deployed (RED) t-shirts are on sale through MVP on behalf of the American Warrior Initiative (AWI). Each t-shirt costs $22 to draw attention to the 22 Veteran suicides per day. 100% of the sale will go to AWI - there is no overhead cost and every penny goes back to a Veteran in some way.

T-shirts can be purchased at the MVP Centennial Office, located in the C Building. We can accept cash or check as payment (if paying by check, please make it out to AWI), or you can use your credit card over the phone (assistance available at Centennial C222).

The Colorado Springs Chapter of AWI has donated over $40,000 for Pikes Peak State military and veteran students in CTE short-term scholarships. Sales like these help fund donations to Pikes Peak State for our military and veteran students.

Visit the American Warrior Initiative website for more information. Please keep in mind, any donations made to this site will go to the national fund, not the Colorado Springs Chapter.
