Pikes Peak State College Dental Clinic Now Accepting Patients in New Delta Dental Oral Health Career Center
Colorado Springs, CO – February 4, 2025 – Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) is now accepting patients for its Expanded Functions Dental Assisting Clinic, offering high-quality, affordable dental care to the community while providing students with essential hands-on training. For the first time, these clinics will take place in the new Delta Dental Oral Health Career Center, a state-of-the-art facility that opened in the summer of 2024, thanks to a historic $2.5 million grant from the Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation (DDCOF).
This initiative provides affordable dental services while addressing the region’s critical shortage of dental professionals. All treatments are performed by PPSC Dental Assisting students under the supervision of licensed dentists, ensuring safe and professional care. The clinic is open to PPSC students, staff, their families (including children 8 years and older), and the general public.

New Home for Dental Education at PPSC
The Delta Dental Oral Health Career Center is a groundbreaking investment in dental education and care, featuring two clinics with 20 total chairs, high-fidelity simulation for low-risk/high-impact learning, and advanced dental technology, including intra-oral and 3D imaging and CAD/CAM crown design and production.
The facility was made possible through a record-breaking $2.5 million grant from Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation (DDCOF)—the largest grant in PPSC history and the foundation’s single largest investment to date. The center was designed to combat Colorado’s severe shortage of dental hygienists and assistants, with plans to expand PPSC’s current dental assisting program and introduce a new dental hygiene program, which is set to launch in Fall 2025.
Bridging the Gap in Dental Care Access
Colorado ranks 48th in the nation for dental hygienist training programs and even lower for dental assistant training. The Delta Dental Oral Health Career Center is a direct response to this urgent workforce need. Once fully operational, the center will support an annual low-cost clinic as part of the curriculum, offering hygiene services for 15 weeks in both the fall and spring semesters, plus a 10-week summer clinic serving approximately 200 patients per week.
Currently, the Expanded Functions Dental Assisting Clinic is the first to utilize the new space, giving students the chance to work with advanced dental technologies while making care more accessible for the community.
