COLORADO SPRINGS, October 24, 2023 – Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) continues to
break new ground by introducing the region’s only accredited Associate of Applied
Science in Veterinary Technology. This dynamic program designed to bridge the gap
in the veterinary workforce and empower the next generation
of veterinary professionals.
This innovative two-year journey at PPSC is a launchpad for students aspiring to make
a difference in veterinary care. Graduates will be poised to take the national examination,
a crucial step towards becoming a registered veterinary technician in Colorado, and
embarking on a career filled with purpose and passion.
Veterinary technicians are the unsung heroes of animal care, playing a versatile and
vital role in clinics. From gaining profeciencey with phlebotomy and pharmacy skills
to practicing dental care, surgery assistance, and radiology, PPSC’s program equips
students with the expertise to thrive in various facets of veterinary medicine.
The demand for these skilled professionals is soaring. In Colorado, the veterinary
field is expecting 51% job growth, translating to 540 openings each year and 5,700
new openings by 2030, according to O*NET Online. Salaries start at $34,380 and average
to $39,540 in Colorado. In Colorado Springs, o, Lightcast data highlights even more
promising opportunities with 68 current job openings with an average starting salary
of $47,245.
The college is accepting applications from the Veterinary Technology web site from
October 30-November 30th.
