Brook Koltun Headshot

Brook Koltun | Director of Advising & Testing

I have worked at Pikes Peak for over 14 years, and I love it! I started out as a Test Proctor, then an Advisor, and then a few other positions before becoming Director of Advising & Testing in May of 2022. I truly believe that education can change people's lives and I love that I can help people along that path through my job!

Education: I have a bachelors degree in Art History and Construction Management, and a Master's degree in Teaching and Learning, and Project Management.

Alex Ward

Alex Ward | Assistant Director of Advising

My name is Alex (he/him)! Colorado Springs is home, but I graduated high school in Phoenix, Arizona. I am currently finishing my Master degree in Library and Information Science. I enjoy all things learning and all things creative. If I am not on campus, I am probably spending time with my partner and my cats while I listen to an audiobook.

Cecilia Saldaña

Cecilia Saldaña | Coordinator of Testing

I was born and raised in Juárez, México. I moved to the U.S. at the end of the 90's when IT professionals from all over the world were recruited by U.S. Industries in preparation for the Y2K expected havoc. I have over 10 years of experience in the IT field (HP Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies), and over 10 years of experience in the Education field (D20, D11, PPSC). In my spare time, I enjoy reading, swimming, knitting/crocheting, cooking/baking, and trivia games.

Why do you enjoy working with students? I relate to their journeys. As an immigrant, as an adult student, as a parent, as a worker... For me, being able to empower students to achieve their educational goals is the best way I can support my community. Education is the key to open doors in any social, economic, and cultural environment. Education is something nobody can take away from you.
Meghann Austin

Meghann Austin | Assistant Coordinator of Admin Services

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I adore water and everything green. I graduated from PPSC in 2013 and then returned in 2015 to work part-time in the Zoo Keeping program. After a few different positions, I landed in Advising & Testing in January of 2020 and have loved it ever since. I enjoy seeing the work we do with students from brand new to smiling graduates. It makes it all worth it!

Why do you like working with students? I am a problem solver. I really enjoy helping students figure out their next steps and ease their anxiety. Amy Cymerman

Amy Cymerman | Advisor for Science, Engineering, and Math

Since 2017 I have worked as an academic advisor at Pikes Peak State College, where I combine my passion for education with my dedication to coaching and athletics. Fluent in French and holding a Master’s degree in Higher Education, I draw on my experience as a professional triathlete to relate to and guide students toward success. I believe that the skills needed to succeed in sports—discipline, resilience, and goal-setting—are just as essential in education, making me a dedicated and relatable resource for my students.

Andre Jordan

Andre Jordan | Lead Advisor & Instructional Liaison for Business, Technology, and Public Service

My name is Andre Jordan (he/him). I grew up in Kent, WA, a suburb about 30 minutes south of Seattle. I am a big advocate of the Pacific Northwest and love my home region, but decided to embark on an adventure to Colorado to begin a career in higher education and have not looked back!

Education: I earned my Bachelors in Sport Management from Washington State University (Go COUGS!)
I also earned a Masters in Leadership from UCCS and plan to study at the doctoral level someday. Some ideas I have brewing for my doctorate studies include: sustainable leadership, internationalization, globalization, and leadership in sports.

Callen Trapp

Callen Trapp | Advisor for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences

Hello! My name is Callen Trapp and I am a full-time advisor for the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences division here at PPSC. I am originally from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and acquired my Master's in English from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. After spending some time teaching English at Washington State University, I traveled across the country for a year to be in Pittsburgh, working for a TRiO SSS program as a success coach at Carlow University.

My partner and I moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to the mountains and take up a more familiar scenery, so if you have any recommendations for either food or outdoor hikes/activities, please let me know! I also have two cats named Chloe and Marcus.

Dakota Folkerts | Lead Advisor & Instructional Liaison for Technical and Professional Studies

Hi! My name is Dakota, I am a program advisor for the BTPS Division. I received my BA in Political Science and Criminal Justice from Nebraska Wesleyan University. I will be attending the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in their part-time law program next Fall. I have been a high school English teacher for Teach for America in Pueblo, CO, and I have spent considerable time teaching and coaching competitive speech and debate all across the United States and Canada. I love working with education and helping student achieve their goals. Outside of work and school, my wife and I love hiking, off-roading, and camping.

Elizabeth Lee | Advisor for Health Sciences

I grew up in St. Louis MO and moved to Manitou Springs in order to finish my degree at UCCS. After graduating I worked in Radio for several years and worked for a small electronics company while raising my 4 children. After my children were grown I went back to school to get my teaching credentials. I taught middle school and high school math for 12 years and loved teaching. I have recently joined Advising and Testing as a part-time advisor and I look forward to supporting PPSC students. In my time off I enjoy yoga, hiking, gardening, reading and spending time with my family and friends.

Janna Thornsby

Janna Thornsby | Testing Specialist

I was raised in northeastern Colorado, but have lived in Colorado Springs since my first teaching job in 19__ (let's just say, shoulder pads were in style). I was a language arts/writing instructor as well as a diagnostic/resource teacher, and taught nearly every grade from elementary to high school. I have thoroughly enjoyed my transition into higher education as part of the Advising and Testing team. I love all things mountain related, and frequent local trails to recharge. My daughter and son are the coolest/smartest/funniest adults I know. Any time spent with them and my family is a gift.

Jayla Camacho | Advisor for Health Sciences

I have lived in Fountain, Colorado my whole life and have found a home at PPSC. I am a first generation student, and I started my college experience at the Community College of Denver. I started out going to school to pursue Elementary Education, at the very last minute I changed my major to Human Services. I believe it has helped me find what I am passionate about, which is helping people in a Higher Education setting, along with helping people within the community.

Jennifer Guajardo

I have lived in Colorado since March 2005 and have made Colorado Springs home for my two now adult sons and I. I am a PPSC and UCCS graduate after starting college as an adult. I unexpectedly became a divorced single parent and decided that the only way my at the time two young sons and I would have any kind of chance at a decent life was to go to college. After completing my AA, BA, and MA, I returned to PPSC as a Communication instructor in August 2017, and moved into Academic Advising in August 2021. I started my career with TFA in Denver and Chicago. ReeAnn Hyde

ReeAnn Hyde | Lead Advisor & Instructional Liaison for Health Sciences

I have been Lead Advisor for the Health Sciences team since 2011 and am deeply grateful for my part in preparing students to enter and impact the Health Sciences career field. I am also the Liaison with the Health Sciences Division providing quality communications between the Division and the Advising and Testing Department. Using the moniker, M.R. Hyde, I am also an active artist in the community with shows at a variety of places throughout each year. I am also a member of the PPSC Nearby Universe creative writer's group and am a published author.

I grew up in Claremont, CA and moved to Colorado for graduate school in 2018. My higher education career began working for Educational Talent Search (ETS) at Cal State Fullerton during my undergrad as an academic mentor for high school students. I started at PPSC in 2021 in the Call Center Specialist in Advising and Testing department, and then moved to a full-time academic advisor position for SEM advising team in July 2023.
