Prepare for a rewarding career in law enforcement with the the Pikes Peak Law Enforcement Academy! You'll receive hands-on training in tactical firearms, law enforcement driving, and arrest control techniques. Additionally, you'll learn police procedures and gain a solid understanding of the law as it applies to police work. Upon completing the academy, you'll be eligible to take the Colorado P.O.S.T. exam. After passing, you could pursue careers as a police officer, dispatcher, parole officer, investigator, sheriff's deputy, and more.
The Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Academy provides qualified individuals the opportunity to gain the skills to become a law enforcement officer. The Academy offers a basic recruit curriculum sanctioned by the Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).

Review the PPRLEA checklist to ensure you have all necessary documentation when submitting your Law Enforcement Application Packet.
You’ll need to write a three-page essay explaining what inspired your interest in a law enforcement career and outlining your short-term or long-term professional goals. The essay should be double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, and does not require citations.
While the COVID vaccine is highly recommended, it is not required. Unvaccinated cadets may need to undergo weekly testing if required by college protocols at the time.
Application requires a notary seal. Notary services are available when submitting application.
Completed packets should be dropped off to the faculty building (F300) of the PPSC Centennial Campus.
An extensive background check is completed on each applicant. Fingerprint checks will be conducted before the start of the academy. Anyone convicted of a felony will not be eligible to attend the Academy. Certain misdemeanors may disqualify you from admission into the PPRLEA.
Admission into Pikes Peak State College does not guarantee admission into the Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Academy.
Graduation from the Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Academy does not guarantee you will not have to attend a hiring Law Enforcement agency's department specific Law Enforcement Academy.
An oral board evaluation will be required and selection of cadets will be made based on the all information in the application process.
