Financial Aid

At PPSC, financial aid comes in various forms such as grants, loans, work-study opportunities, and scholarships. Our goal is to help you cover your educational expenses using federal, state, and institutional resources.

We are dedicated to supporting every student in their educational journey. While our funding resources are limited, we make every effort to provide as much financial assistance as possible to help meet each student's demonstrated financial need.

Applying for Financial Aid

Apply for FAFSA each year beginning October 1 for the following academic year but remember PPSC's priority deadline is March 31st - this is the date PPSC must have your FAFSA on file to maximize funding.

PPSC's FAFSA School Code: 008896

    • Complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA for Summer 2024, Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025

Colorado Promise Tax Credit

The Colorado Promise Tax Credit offers a tuition reimbursement in the form a tax credit for your first two years of college. You may be eligible if your family income is $90,000 or less. Learn more about eligibility requirements and how it works if you think you qualify.

FINANCIAL AID AND REQUIRED COURSEWORK

If you are enrolled in courses that do not apply to your degree program, financial aid will not disburse for these classes.

You may need to pay for them yourself.

  • Check in with your academic advisor each semester to ensure you are taking classes that are part of your declared major and will be covered by financial aid.
  • Check your courses in Degree Check if you are uncertain whether your classes are required for your program of study. You can always check by logging into myPikesPeak Portal

Checking Your Financial Aid Status in the Student Portal

Once you’ve submitted the FAFSA - it’s important for you to know the status of your Financial Aid File.

After your FAFSA is submitted - you may be required to submit additional documents - before you can be awarded financial aid.

Check your aid status in your student portal to ensure your aid is ready to be awarded on-time.

Accepting Your Financial Aid Award

Once Pikes Peak has your award offer ready, you can access it via your student portal account - and decide what aid to accept.

This video walks you through the process and details important things you need to know about accepting your financial aid.

  2. Locate the Financial Aid card and select "View Your Status"
  3. On the next screen, select the aid year and then select submit

What other financial assistance and resources are available to me as a PPSC student?

PPSC students have additional resources and assistance available to them, in addition to Federal and State financial aid.

Examples:

  • Housing and transport resources
  • Food pantry (on and off-campus)
  • Food stamps, WIC, and LEAP
  • Workforce and Employment Services
  • Financial Assistance for Colorado residents who have been in foster care

Additionally, view our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for additional resources you may be eligible for.

  • This bill requires Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to provide financial assistance to Colorado resident students who, any time after reaching age 13, have been in foster care or noncertified kinship care (following adjudication as neglected/dependent). The IHEs must provide for the remaining balance of total cost of attendance in excess of all private, federal or state financial assistance received by the student.

  • The bill appropriates funds to cover 50% of what IHEs are required to provide to qualifying students under this bill.

  • Each college must designate one employee as a liaison to serve as a direct point of contact for qualifying and prospective students.
